My New Crowns Are Discoloured, What Should I Do About This?

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013
Q.

I have recently had 9 of my crowns renewed by a cosmetic dentist. I love the shape however my front upper 4 are showing a grey blueish tint to them especially in darker light they look very grey. I have gone back to the dentist and they have agreed to change one which has particular blueish shading on the tooth. I was told that this was the post underneath showing through. Which I guess that with the other 3 it is probably the post colour underneath showing through giving a greyish look in certain light, I paid £500 per tooth. What is your advice? I was thinking about going for a second opinion?

Can My Crowns Be Made Shiny And Smooth?

Monday, May 13th, 2013
Q.

I recently had two all porcelain crowns on my front teeth. They were too bulky so the dentist contoured them all over to flatten them. Now, I feel self conscious because I can see horizontal creases on the crowns and they are not as shiny as before. I have paid a lot of money for these crowns and feel really upset with the appearance. I can see where the dentist has contoured them and where he hasn’t because I can see te shiny glaze in some areas where he did not contour. When I tried them on I did not feel like I could make a decision because they kept falling out of my mouth and I ended up saying yes but felt rushed. I would have preferred going away with them for a few days and then making my decision. Is there any way that the crowns can be made shiny and smooth again?

Can You Improve On The Work Done By My NHS Dentist?

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013
Q.

I had composite veneers fitted over the front of my 2 front teeth by an NHS dentist. I’m not happy with the work done. One is bulky and cracked due to the fact that i have already had it repaired the other has a dent in where the glue is and you can see on both where they end and my old tooth is under. I’m so disappointed, i feel I have lost confidence when i smile. I had composite bonding over both teeth years ago and this was great you could not even tell. they looked so natural. I went to get them redone as it has been 8 years and this dentist said this was the only way they could now be done. I feel my front teeth are a mess with the composite veneers. Could your firm do anything? Maybe composite bond over them? Thank you.

I Am Unhappy With My New Crown, Can It Be Fixed?

Monday, April 29th, 2013
Q.

I had a crown on one of my front teeth 15 days back. My tooth had got discolored & it was recommended that I get a crown. I went to my usual family doc who had done my braces earlier. But I’m very unhappy with the crown. she ground my tooth n then gave me a first crown which was a complete disaster. I asked her to replace it at any cost. She did that and it was better than the previous one but I’m not completely happy. it is protruding a bit near the fit at gums & i feel it is a little bigger & bit rounder than my adjacent tooth. The crown has a metal inside. she said that my gums would grow over the joints near the crown & it would look normal but i feel very awkward to smile 🙁 please suggest what to do. I have spoken to her about this & she says this is how one tooth crown would look & everybody who gets one tooth front cap will look the same. Please help. Thanks in advance!

I Had One Of Two Porcelain Veneers Chipped And Replaced But Now They Don’t Match, What Are My Options?

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr I have two porcelain veneers on my front teeth. One veneer chipped and I had to have it replaced.
The dentist tried to convince me to have two replaced so they matched, but I just wanted one.
He said he was using the best lab, and he sent my old veneer to the lab so they could match it. He said they use U.V light etc.
As someone who is not a dentist or lab worker, i can see it is clearly darker than the other old veneer.
The dentist is more or less saying its normal etc, but I cant see why the lab would send out work that any idiot can see does not match the veneer they we’re sent.
Even the two old veneers we’re as good as a perfect match for my existing teeth, and the lab never saw them, and they could not get a match for something they did see…..
I feel that my dentist just gave allot of talk to make me think I had as good as it gets.
For £600 I feel I should expect at least a hardily noticeable.
difference.
He showed me how it looked before he stuck it into position, but did not offer me a mirror after it was in position.
I just think its all a bit unacceptable, but I would like to know if I have a case to ask for it to be changed?……
I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks very much.

I Am Dissatisfied With The Results From My Braces, How Much Will Veneers Cost?

Monday, March 11th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have had gotten braces which I wore for two years but i’m still not happy with the results. They are better than they used to be but I do not think that they are anywhere near as straight as they could be. My two front teeth are not the same size and one is in front of the other. They are also in different lengths. Also the teeth which is in the back are slightly slanted so I am having trouble biting sometimes. I have gone to my local dentist and they have applied some kind of glue to elongate the shorter front tooth however it keeps on chipping. I would really like to get veneers on the top teeth. How much will it cost to get veneers one the single front tooth?

I am having issues with my orthodontist, what should I do?

Friday, March 18th, 2011
Q.

I have a missing 2 teeth from birth, (its the second tooth next to my big front tooth on each side)
all my teeth was moved together so no gaps were left, this is when I was small whilest living in a different country. I have had braces put in for the last 2years and 5 month.
The dentist took my baby teeth out , which were behid my canines. Now the orthodontist was meant to move my canines into the corect place, which is almost finished, but she created masive overbite. ( which I didnt have before), my top teeth completely covers the lower ones. She basickly moved my front teeth forward so much to creat the gap for a bridge, not moving my canines much. I do not like it , Shouldn`t she fix this? Most people would have braces put to correct what she created.
Is there any chance I can change to another orthodontist. Unfortunatelly my dentist send me to this one even though I should have been reffered to dental hospital and have my treatmet for free & done be top orthodontist.
Please can you tell me what I can do? Can I go to dental hopital to have it corected?
Many thank.

I am unhappy with my new crowns, what can I do?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Q.

Is it normal practice for a dentist not to give you a colour choice of new caps or to show you the shape, I have paid 5K upfront and I am so unhappy with both the shape and the colour.
When the temps were fitted (nearly 4 months ago) they were a brilliant white, at my second fitting (3 months later) more temps fitted a nice white this time and such a perfect shape.
I have had only 4 perms fitted on the front and I am so unhappy compared to the temps they look dull and yellow grey,. the front 2 are too long and 1 has such a bump on the back I cant bite together with my back teeth. When I have my mouth very slightly open I look like a rodent oh and they have black lines on the top. Surley this is not normal I have paid 5K upfront I feel so stupid I have an appointment in another 2 weeks time what can i do,
