Is there any treatment for a fractured veneer?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had a veneer on my front tooth, and it fractured, and instead of having a new one replaced, my dentist put composite filling on my tooth, if i wanted the filling removed can it be done so that i can just have my natural tooth? Laura,

Sugar consumption has ruined my teeth please suggest a treatment.

Q.
Hello, I am 16 and have been so scared to smile all my life. I have always had issues with my teeth. At the moment my top teeth are all slightly separated (especially my top 2 ones) and my bottom 2 teeth have decayed and are rotting because of drinking soft drinks. They have even gotten to the point where they are starting to chip off. The bottom two ones have black blotches in them and it makes me feel very unconfident with smiling. I have good dental hygiene in the sense that i floss and brush 2 times daily using a soft brush, but i have ruined my teeth with the amount of sugar i have consumed over the years. What dental procedure would you recommend that could possibly fix my issue to have a beautiful smile?

My porcelain teeth has broken twice what could be the cause?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
I have a dental implant on my front tooth. the porcelain tooth has broken twice, once biting on an apple and lastly biting on a provita cracker. the metal part of the implant did not move and x-rays show it’s still totally inplace (I had bone graft taken from hip 1 year prior to implant placement) My question is could it be due to poor quality porcelain? what else can cause it to break in half widthwise twice? should I avoid biting on any hardish food in future? I do not grind my teeth at night. There is no stress pressure apparent from biting down against lower teeth. It’s a bit of a mistery to my dentist too!

Need solution from veneer teeth grinding

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q.
I have had 4 porcelain veneers done in Sept 2009 on my front teeth and wish I hadn’t now as have had problems in that after the permanent ones were placed on one came off after 3 days as it appears I grind my teeth at night. I know the veneers are slightly longer that original teeth which i didn’t agree too and so now everytime i talk, they ‘catch’ with the bottom teeth. I am concerened this catching will lead to other falling off prematurely so want them altered so they are same length as original teeth. Will there be damage to underlying teeth if these veneers are taken off to be replaced?

Could you plz give some details for resin composite crown?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi, Dr. Glaister: Dentist said I had a vertical crack in my lower left molar (tooth number 18) in the back of the tooth. It doesn’t hurt although sometimes I feel sensitivity when I chew. He said I should have a crown. I heard the cheapest crown is a resin composite. What is the life expectancy of that kind of crown and can it be done quickly in one visit? Is it different than a metal or porcelain crown inthat they don’t have to grind your teeth?
