I has periodontal disease and it has ruined my perfect smile how can i go about fixing it?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009
Q.
Around 5 years at the age of 18 I was told I had periodontal disease, thankfully it was caught early and treatment has been very sucessful and the disease is not ‘active’, I don’t suffer any bleeding etc so long as I look after my teeth properly on a daily basis. But for the time I went untreated before diagnosis I lost gum from the main affected areas around my top teeth which has ruined a perfect smile, although I appreciate it could have been much worse had it been left I’m not happy with how it looks especially given my young age. I’d like to know more about soft tissue grafts and what it would involve? My dentist will refer me when I can afford it (private treatment) so I’ve been unable to ask more about the procedure in detail and I’m quite cautious as it sounds scary. Can you tell me more about it? Thank you

Can u explain why the tooth whitening process left me with extreme sensitivity and loose teeth

Saturday, July 4th, 2009
Q.
A year ago I underwent a teeth whitening process at my NHS dentist but almost immediately after the procedure I began to experience very severe pain – similar to toothache – in every tooth. This discomfort lasted for 48 hours before subsiding although I was left with extremely sensitive teeth. A few weeks later I noticed that several of my teeth – in fact five in all – were loose and I then began to experience problems with pain in these loose teeth and the surrounding gums. As a result I have had to have one of these teeth extracted and I suspect that the others will have to go too. Can you explain why the tooth whitening process should have had this devastating affect on my teeth and whethere there is anything that can be done to reverse the loosening of the teeth, cure the over-sensitivity and restore my gums back to health?

I am suffering from early stages of periodontitis after its controlled how could my teeth saved

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi Im17, i live in northern ireand, i am currently suffering from early stages of periodontitis (self diagnosed via internet) diagnosed with gingivitis months ago. as my dentist believes it to just be the unfortunate territory that came with my orthodontic braces, but its not she gave me a gel toothpaste to control gingivitus corsodyll. But I know the incisor has worsened. the root is noe slightly showing and it is slightly wobbly too touch with the tongue, i doubt my dentist is going to take heed to my pleas for a CT scan to prove the loss of bone is so sever. i believe it too be aggresive periodontitis, but i am wandering after it is controlled how could my tooth either be saved or could i get restoritive measures to restore the loss of jawbone and get an implant. thanks for reading this. and if so could you possibly estimate and refer or possibly yourself to do the procedure. If so how successful could it be.

My papilla have reduced in length is there a way to reduce the gap caused by it

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
I have had some gum inflammation recently and have noticed that in some places the papilla have reduced in length creating some black triangles. These are not in the front teeth but more the small molars after the canines. My gum inflammation has gone now but really have a complex about these gaps. My periodontist told me that that because i have no bone loss the papilla should grow back. I have had a look on the internet and seen nothing that gives evidence to this. If they do not grow back is there a way to reduce the look of these gaps. I am looking to straighten my teeth can this help in any way? Thanks in advance for your help

I was diagnosed with juvenile perionditis and now ive receding gums is there any thing i could do

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I was diagnosed with juvenile perionditis almost 10 years back. I recieved treatment such as scaling and splints and my teeth are much more sturdy now and no sign of the disease anymore. A few Dentists have told me that I pretty much have no hope with the after effect of the disease which left me with alot of receding of the gums. I’m very insecure about my smile and it does effect me mentally. I was told i’m not a candidate for implants or bridges because of the significant bone loss…is there anything I could do??? fyi…i’m only 28!
