Dentures fitted causing pain in the gums

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
Hello I had ValPlast dentures fitted and got a pain in the upper gums on wearing them. I persevered before 4 months before I had a tooth pulled from that side and thought it might be the reason and it would get better over time. Now the other side hurts as well. Sometimes one side hurts and I can chew on the other and another time the other side hurts. I thought it might be cavitations? I recently did a heavy metal detox. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

I want your suggestion on wearing dentures

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
I currently wear dentures but the lower was originally made with a bar on a few of my teeth; but then one side came out of the gum; so the dentist removed the other side; so I’ve been wearing the lower using the pad. Now, I did go to a dentist who made a new complete set; however, I can not wear them-the lower-the first time the front teeth was almost laid out flat; so I couldn’t bite, chew, talk or sing; so he had it redone & then it was straight up way back behind my top; so I can’t chew-they just sit in the container. What should I do? They were very expensive to not be worn. The dentist did offer to refund half ot the money but at that time I refused. Should I sue him because if I call or go by; there is usually no one there.

Should I choose non NHS dentures or NHS dentures

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
I have just been told that my remaining teeth need to be removed and have both upper and lower dentures. I am considering implants but at this time the cost is an issue. I would like an opinion on whether to pay the extra for non nhs dentures in the interim or to have nhs dentures until next year when I can have the implants. Thank You

Best solution to fix new bite?

Friday, November 20th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr Moore, I am 42 years old. I had my mouth half full with crowns by 20 yrs old. By 34, many were needing to be replaced. I begged the dentist to give me an upper plate. I made a good case and I got it. He made me 4 or 5 before I got a good fit. I still have to use a large amount of Fixodent daily to keep it in. Now, at 42 I have had most of my bottom teeth extracted and Im down to 5 in the front. THere are no other teeth/replacements on the bottom at all. The plan is to remove the 5th tooth and I will be left with 4 in the front, and get a partial bottom plate. And make a new top plate to fix the new bite. How will the teeth in the back stay down? I will need to glue down with fixodent? Will it somehow hook on to my front teeth? People Ive known with this, had hooks onto back teeth which I do not have. Please let me know. At this point I just want to be able to chew again.

Relatively large front teeth needs treatment

Friday, November 20th, 2009
Q.
I have two large front teeth and absolutely detest them. its giving me really low self esteem and i would really like to do something about them. What are my options and honestly how much will this kind of treatment cost? My two front teeth are longer than my “wedding finger nail” (short) just to give you a rough idea. im getting increasingly depressed about it what can i do?

Friday, November 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Moore,I would like to ask you what I can do in my situation.I start a full mouths restauration last year,I already pay 10 .000 pounds .all the extraction been done, manage to have 6 implants on my upper jaw as well; still have four off mynteeths on upper jaw who need crowns,on my lower jaw just four teeths on the front. Now my circumstances change,I m on benefit I have a Hc2 certificate wich is not seems to help me much.I am stuck in the midle with a temporarty bridge wich is not even done properly because my dentist not pay any interes any more.My dentist even sugest to have the implants extracted and have ba denture instead wich I think is ridiculos.Anyway what I want to ask is if I have any chance to finish the work with a private dentist and pay the diference for the abutments for example.

Glueing a replacement tooth to adjoining tooth an option?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009
Q.
I have one missing front tooth & currently a single tooth denture that I am not happy with. I have been told I can have a replacement tooth glued to the adjoining tooth instead. I am told this is a successful procedure although not often used. What do you think?
