Can Veneers Or Crowns Correct A Severe Overjet? I Don’t Want Braces As I’m Too Old.

Thursday, January 9th, 2014
Q.

Hi, I was wondering if veneers or crowns can correct a severe overjet? I really do not want to wear braces for 2 years as I feel I’m too old and will be getting married later this year. I am willing to have my teeth ground drastically if that’s what it takes to correct this overjet. I’ve researched that jaw surgery may be an option as well but I am worried this will affect my facial profile. Although my main focus is to straighten my top teeth, I would also consider putting veneers on my bottom teeth to reduce the overjet as well.

After Doing Some Research On Veneers, I Want To Know If They Will Look Too Bulky?

Thursday, October 10th, 2013
Q.

I chipped my front tooth that had composite bonding. I was told to get 8 veneers. I have a slight overbite. I already had the prep work done and am on my 2nd dentist. I have the temporaries and there is a large space between the back of my top teeth and the front of my bottom teeth. You can stick your fingernail under them. I have been doing research online and saw if you have an overbite the veneers will look bulky. Is it too late to get composite bonding so I won’t have to worry?

I Want To Know If My Specific Problem Can Be Solved With Six Month Smiles Treatment?

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, My dentist recently told me I have a “relatively mild malocclusion involving a class 2 division, 1 incisor relationship with a 6mm overjet and a 2mm midline diastema in the upper arch”.   I was wondering if I would be able to get jaw surgery for the overjet or would braces alone fix that problem. Also would 6 month smiles fix it or do you think having braces on for about a year or 2 will be better. My dentist has not said anything yet about it so I want a second opinion. Thanks.

I have just been through the process of volunteering

Q.

I have just been through the process of volunteering at leeds dental institute and was promised after all my appointments i was gauranteed to have my teeth straightened for free.

I never got chance to get a brace when i was younger and i am now 20.

Today at my orthodontics appointment i have been told my teeth are not bad enough for treatment at the institute, so i have returned to look for private care.

My teeth are moderately-severe crowded top and bottom, and i have a overjet of about 6mm. my top centre line is correct but my bottom is 1mm to the left.

What would you suggest would be the best brace for me?
I would preferably prefer something relatively cheap and maybe something less discreet that traditional braces if possible

I don’t know whether to choose the fixed braces or invisalign, any advice?

hi, well basically i am 25 and unhappy with my teeth. I have an overjet on the top 2 teeth and crowding on the bottom front teeth. I was interested in invalign and have been to see two orthodontists. The first one assured me that my teeth would be perfect at the end of the treatment but the second one put me off slightly as he said that my teeth would be much better than they are now but to get the best result i would have to get a traditional fixed brace…leaving me confused as i dont want the fixed brace but i dont want to pay for invisalign and not get the desired results. *the second ortho said that there are two teeth on,

Hi, I am a 22 year old female and i have an appox 1cm positive overjet. I had braces when i was a teenager so my teeth are fairly straight however the overjet didnt get corrected. I think my only option now is corrective jaw surgery but i am finding it difficult to find information about it. Please could you send me some about the risks, costs etc. Many thanks.,

Would the inman aligner solve the problems in my case?

Monday, May 24th, 2010
Q.
I have a 3mm overjet on both of my front teeth and slight overjet on both teeth beside each of my front teeth as well as a 0.5mm gap between my front teeth. In layman terms I have no spacing besides the gap between my two front teeth and my teeth just need to be tilted back. Could the inman aligner solve this problem for me? Thank you for answering.,

Hi Dr Andrew I am a 28 year old female who has 6 of her front teeth shooting out (Overjet) with gaps in between them and my lower teeth four of them are a bit misaligned A dentist said i have flared incisors another one recomended damon braces and a third dentist recommended the six month smile. I am a bit skeptical about the six month smile (Clear fixed braces). I really do not mind any kind of braces but I am a bit confused. Could you shed more light on the 6 month smile braces cos I am confused about which one to use. Does the six month smile system really work cos i want my front and bottom teeth to be straightened and my cross and uneven bites fixed. Thank you.,
