My gums have receded due to HIV and cardiovascular problems, what can I do?

Monday, April 23rd, 2012
Q.

Hello Dr Moore
I live with HIV and a cardio vascular isues and my gums have receded and have lost quite a few back teeth. The front teeth are in good condition, althought I am concerned that they may also go. I am looking for the best and most cost effective solution as well as a solution that looks good. Could you give me some idea what you consider the best way forward and if possible an idea of costs, and would you be willing to work with me? Is there a method of ‘gum reconstruction?
Many Thanks

Can Invisalign be used unnoticeably with a dental bridge?

Monday, March 26th, 2012
Q.

Hi,
I have recently been reffered to an orthadontist to have invisalign braces, i am really excited about starting my treatment but have been told i need a tooth removed as it is a milk tooth, i have had previous treatments but the tooth is unable to be saved, i also had a bridge fitted on the opossite side for the same problem which also needs to be removed as it is ill fitting, my question is as i will have noticeable gaps at the front of my mouth, when the tooth and bridge are removed can the invisalign help to hide this hile my teeth are being moved? i work in a environment where i am constantly talking to people/customer and am worried that i will feel very concious with gaps.
Please help!!
Thankyou

Can I pay with a payment scheme to replace my missing teeth with dental implants?

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012
Q.

Hi Mark
Over the past 2 years I have had 7 teeth removed because continuous abscess problem from having all my teeth. I now have a gap from my central incisors to my wisdom tooth on my right side.
I have tried the false teeth, but they generate so much saliva that they make me physically sick. When asking my dentist about implants, the price I was given was £1500 a tooth.
Mark I am a working man but I am not a wealthy man, is there any scheme I could go on where I could pay monthly or better still have a trainee do his or here training on me.
Mark any suggestions I would be grateful for.

Yours gratefully

Am I likely to receive benefits for dental veneers?

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012
Q.

Hi, ever since i can remember my teeth have been weak but since i had my children they have got incredibly worse, i have got to have an operation soon to have 7 of my back teeth removed and i am terrified of everything about it! especially the aftercare of my remaining teeth. I am only 22 and i feel discusting, I never smile and since suffering and constantly worrying about my appearance I have lost my confidence. I never thought my teeth could take over my life like they have, I just want to be able to concerntrate on being there for my kids. I am on benefits but don’t want to come across as a scrounge, I just want to know if i’ll be entitled to veneers or something similar if I asked my dentist.

How many dental implants will I need to replace my denture?

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012
Q.

I currently have a metal denture with 2 back teeth each side which i have had for about 3 months, i sleep in it and although I can now chew food it doesn’t taste the same and food gets lodged underneath the plate when I am eating. I have had my wisdom teeth out an have no back teeth at all. Would I need 4 implants and approximately what cost am I looking at? How long would the treatment be expected to take. I am an insulin dependant diabetic other than slower healing would this make any difference?

I cannot afford dental implant treatment, are there any other options for tooth replacement?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011
Q.

Hi Dr

I am considering having dental implants after having lost a nuber of teeth in the last 5 years, so currently 4 with the possibility of another on the way out too. I have looked online and while visiting places like Budapest seems good the comments I have had from my dentist hasnt been positive. To the point when I am considering going to the DentalCare Implant for a consultation. Obviously price is an issue as my own dentist mentioned ther approx price in the region of £2000 per implant which I cannot afford as this would take the cost to £10,000 but if I could pay a third of that I would be happy. Are there any options out there for me?

I have a missing tooth but I don’t want dentures and can’t afford implants, are there any other options?

Monday, November 14th, 2011
Q.

I have a tooth missing , I am 22 years old and having a tooth missing is making me very wary of smiling. It is right at the front.
I have looked at all the websites of the local dentists but its the same story, its either a denture or an implant, problem is the implant costs thousands is there no other way without ending up with a denture. One dentist is telling me that i should just have a couple more teeth taken out because they are poor state and another dentist says its just cosmetic, I paid eighty pound at a private dentist to see what i needed done , so i didnt have any other work suggested by my original dentist that could make things worse. I am so frustrated because the private dentist came up with 8000 pound worth of treatment that needed to be carried out. I am a carer so obviously I don’t have to give away and nor did i get an answer to what i can do for my teeth that is going to cost me a fortune. Is there any treatment that can get my teeth in a healthy state and cover the gap at the front of my teeth that is in within my price range ?
