Is there any difference in quality between the NHS crown and a private crown?

Hi. Thank you for offering your advice here. I’ve had a porcelain and metal bonded crown on my main front left tooth for the last 6 years. It is fitted on my actual tooth which has been filed down to a small stub. Recently my porcelain crown broke in the middle of the night. It just fell apart at 5am. I didn’t bang it and dont hink i have ever banged it as im very carefull with it. Only the porcelain broke off. The black metal is still on my tooth with the permenant dentist glue. I have a HC2 certificate. What is the difference between an NHS crown and a private crown? Shouldn’t the quality of a NHS crown be the same as a private crown? Am I entitled to request, under my entitlement to rights from NHS dental treatment received, that i would like the NHS crown to be the same quality as a private crown? Am I entitled to an all ceramic crown under my NHS HC2 certificate rather than a porcelain/metal bonded crown? It is for my main front left tooth. Looking forward to your advice. Many many thanks.

Is there a way to match the color of the crown to the rest of my teeth?

Hi Dr. I just got it a crow on my front thoot. My question is, that my natural color theet is kind trasnsparent white,we tried 2 shades..like A2 and which was kind yellow color.Then the Dr. order another shade B1,which is very white , not transparent.The Dr, said there is not a perfect match,now I have to live with this,and anyone can tell the diference.I am really embaressed…There is anything I can do, to make my theet shade look more even?

Can i know the benefits and problems of veneers and crowns?

I am considering getting my four front teeth either crowned or have veneer on them. I would like to know the benefits and/or problems with both of these. I have had crowns before and never had a problem, but I understand that veneers are a bit more pricey and painful. Are they both comparable when it comes to wear, etc?

Can u suggest me on my jaw that has become sensitive to hot food?

Hi DR moore I have a crown on the upper right jaw that has become sensitive to hot food etc The pain is only mild, and seems to radiate to other teeth on that top side. There is no pain when i bite on the tooth,also there is no swelling around the tooth. what could be the problem. thanks for your time.

My lava crown are so long can they be adjusted

I just had Lava Crowns put on my front teeth. They are so long they are lying on my bottom lip. Can they be adjusted? Also they are very ripple texture to them, on the outside, not smooth like the rest of my teeth I cannot get my Dentist to return my calls. I am beside myself..

Where should i go to have a new crown NHS or Private

Hi there, I’ve just been to the dentist (for the first time in years!). I’m lucky in that my teeth, gums, etc, are generally in good shape, but I do have a mark on my two front upper teeth which I’d like removing. The dentist was a bit confusing, talking about the treatment available on the NHS – vaneers underlined with metal which becomes visible after time? She said that crowns weren’t available on the NHS and that I’d have to go private, paying £310 for each tooth. However, I’ve been doing a bit of research and it would appear that crowns should be available, at the higher payment category, but would be of lesser quality to those provided privately. I’d like some advice on where to go from here – I’d obviously rather go the NHS route, but if the quality/life expectancy of the private crowns is significantly better, should I go this route? Thank you…

My veneers placed in shade b1 but real colour of my tooth is showing through any advice?

Hi, I had veneers placed in shade b1 but real colour of my tooth is showing through (which is dark yellow). they did not respond to whitening prior to getting veneers. The dentist will not help or even discuss this. Please can you tell me if anything can be done to replacement veneers to stop real colour showing through? I am going to different consultations and the dentist I might go with says there is a glue he can use to block the real colour out. Do you think this will work? many thanks
