I have slightly protruding teeth and I was advised to wear braces when I was very young,9.However, I din’t go through with it because I din’t want to suffer pain for the sake of looking good. Now I am 19, I just want to know if my teeth will go on protruding further if I donot put a check to it.At the moment it doesn’t look all that bad.

Is it possible to pull backwards the canine and incisor teeth with brace?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
Hello I am a 42 year old man. My problem is my teeth are large with very long roots. My premolars have pushed my canine and incisor teeth forwards; when I bite down me teeth leave a U shaped bite mark. I would like to know if it is possible to pull backwards the canine and incisor teeth with some kind of brace, possibly by removing the first molar or one of the pre molar teeth. If so what are my options.

Ive crowding on both the top and bottom teeth will invisalign suit me

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
I’m nineteen and I was wondering if Invisalign would work for me. As well as overcrowding on both the top and bottom (particularily the top, there is quite a bit of overlapping), I also have an overbite. If I clamp my teeth together, the top row covers the bottom. If I push my jaw forward and do the same thing so that they’re even, only the two front teeth touch the bottom. The rest of my teeth don’t touch at all. Can Invisalign help correct an overbite like this? I can’t stand the thought of having to wear metal braces. I’ve read about jaw surgery as well but I don’t know how that works and what the result would be.

Would fixed metal braces get my six front teeth straightened?

Friday, July 31st, 2009
Q.
Hi, due to years of thumbsucking my left central overlaps my right and there is a lot of crowding on my top teeth. I also have a rotated canine tooth which sticks out. I realise I have a very narrow arch. I have enquired about the Inman aligner at several clinics, some say I am not suitable and others say they can make a huge improvement but not to expect a Hollywood smile. How much of an improvement can the Inman’s make? I am only particularly concerned with my top six teeth that show when I smile, I am not interested in correcting any other problems. Would the appearance of my front six teeth be much different looking if I chose to get my teeth straightened with a fixed metal brace?

Ive gaps between my 2 front teeth will teeth effect band suit me

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
Q.
Hiya Dr Patel, I’ve been looking into various treatments to close the gap between my 2 front teeth. The gap is approximately 2-3mm. Whilst researching treatments such as invisalign and inman aligners i have came across a product called Teeth Effect Bands, these claim to close the gap without the need for visiting a dentist. They apparantly act like an elastic band that draws your teeth together. I was wondering if you fell these are an effective treatment and would you recommend them for my issue. Thanking you kindly

Ive large space on my two front teeth what are my options

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
Q.
I have a large space at the side of my two front teeth left side, I know I am not suitable for inman aligner, nor sure about invisalign, my two front teeth are very sightly spaced but one sits out a little bit further than the other. I feel like I am running out of options now. Don’t really want train track braces and as my teeth are really healthy veneers were my last option if I emailed you some pictures would you given me your recommendation. Many thanks.

Ive an overbite problem will it be okay to have invisible braces and then followed by jaw surgery

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Patel I have had an overbite problem all my life. My top jaw is alot more “forward” than my bottom jaw which creates a rather large overbite. I have had fixed braces to try and alleviate the problem, by pushing the top teeth back and straightening the lower teeth. However my teeth are now moving back to there original position. I have been referred to see a maxiofacial surgeon who has informed me that the only way to permanently solve the problem is to have fixed braces for 18 months followed by jaw surgery to move the lower jaw forward. I am not looking forward to the prospect of wearing fixed braces again for such a long duration. However I am happy to have the jaw surgery to correct the overbite. I was wondering if I would be eligible to have the new types of invisible braces instead of the traditional “train tracks”? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!
