Hi Dr Patel I have questions abt gaps in my front bottom and top teeths. I am currently living in Japan and am told by a dentdist here that because I have gap both up and down it’s suitable for me to have vaneers and the dentist here is advising me have the pastic ones fitted which are much cheaper then normal vaneers. However I am woerried it might be very good as its cheap. Can you please advise me on what would be suitable for me, I have gaps in abt 5 teeths in bottom and maybe abt 3 on top. Kind regards

would it be possible to advise of any good nhs dentist in birmingham area

Hi Rob I hope you will be able to advise me…….I am a 34 year old female and have a large gap in the middle of my 2 front teeth, which seems to have got wider over the years, this is drastically affecting my confidence, and I would like to do something about it. Can you please advise what the best procedure to have done is, or whether any of the following procedures would be available from an NHS Dentist: Crowns, Veneers or Braces? and if so what the cost is likely to be? Would it also be possible to advise of any good NHS Dentists in the Birmingham area or any good private dentists who can offer a payment plan for any work or treatments undertaken? Your advice would be very much appreciated, thanking you in advance. Regards

would a cosmetic dentist offer a superior service compared to local dentist?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, i’m 45yrs old and very self conscious about my smile even though i do get compliments on my looks it doesn’t change how i feel. my top front teeth have shortend over the past 10yrs, i have been told my bite is OK and i could have vaneers applied to correct there appearance. my bottom teeth have a few gaps which need correcting and an orthodontic said a brace may correct this but my dentist is not sure this would and due to my age if the teeth would stay once corrected? i am very confused to what to do as i cannot afford financially to make a mistake .i live near Aberdeen and my dentist is local, how ever she does not appear to be confident in which would be my best options so i decided to visit a practice that specialize in cosmetic dentistry in Aberdeen called Fergus&Glover to get a second opinion. i was inspired by there knowledge and advice, they estimated that to create a nice smile again it would cost £16,000 this included vaneers, a replacement crown, whitening and any dentistry work. unfortunately i cannot afford that amount. so i wanted to ask you what do you think would be the best option would be to correct the bottom gaps and also would a cosmetic dentist offer a superior service compared to a local dentist? would the quality of the vaneers be a superior finish. kind regards,

Hi, I am 16 and have 2 impacted teeth and 2 missing teeth. My mouth can only fit 2 teeth. In a result I’ll have 2 missing teeth and the gaps will be closed by braces. I was wondering if in later life I could have venners to make it look like I have all of my teeth there?

i have very small gaps between the teeth will they continue to grow? any advise

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi I recently gave up smoking and just before christmas noticed i had some very small gaps appearing in between my teeth. I saw 2 dentists who told me there was nothing wrong and it was natural age progression ( I am 30) I paid privatly and saw another dentist who referred me to his hygenist who i saw last week for a sonic scale and polish. She told me my gums were slightly inflamed but when i go back next week she said the scale and polish would be all i need. My gums are now a healthy pink but the gaps have got bigger which was explained to me may happen. Is there anything i can do to fill these gaps as even though they are small I really notice them. Also what has caused this as when she did the probe to check my gums there is no bone loss and they were normal depths. Now the gaps are there will they continue to grow? Any advise would be great as this has taken over my life the last month and has really gotten me down.. Many thanks

Anyone can help me out to close the gap in my teeth without braces? is veneers an option

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
Dear Julian am 20 years old. For years i have hated the huge gap between my 2 front teeth, it is approximately 1-1.5cm wide. I have been to see a number of cosmetic dentists with regards to closing this with veneers as due to my proffesion i would not like to go down the braces route if at all possible. I have had mixed opinions on what they think they can do. One female dentist said that she could use 8 veneers on the top to close it up but due to the size of the gap she may need to carry out root canals. The other 2 dentists i have been to see said that they would not do veneers on me because it would not be possible to close the gap without damaging my teeth and it would not close completely. they said i could only close it with braces but i really dont like the shape or anything about my existing teeth, i just want them gone!! One suggested some thing about removing the front 4 teeth and using implants and a bridge or something?! to close the gap but wasnt keen as there is nothing acctually wrong with my existing teeth but i was just wondering if you could give me some information about this and what you think about whether anyone can help me out there without braces?! am desperate- this would really change my life so much. many kind regards
