The corner of one of my teeth has broken off should i have bonding or crown

Monday, June 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hi. Please can you advise me on whether I should have a crown or try bonding first… The corner of one of my teeth has broken off – it is on the bottom set, the second double tooth from back (I only have 4 double teeth each side). I had a lot of pain eating on it and my dentist presumed there was a crack but couldn’t find it, so replaced my filling in the hope it would help. Two weeks later part of it has fallen off. I have been given the option of having the corner rebuilt (with same material as used for fillings I think), but dentist cannot determine how strong this would be and whether it would last as these are my main chewing teeth. The price for that would be around £100, or he has suggested a porcelain crown at £500. (I would not consider the gold option as it would be visible). Obviously that is a lot of money which I don’t really want to spend. Would you advise me to try the bonding first or just go straight for the crown? with thanks

Does chrome dentures clasp onto existing teeth so do my front teeth need to be grounded

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
Q.
Hello. Please could you give me some advice regarding chrome dentures, I have quite a few missing molar teeth from my bottom jaw which make eating very difficult. I still have my very back molars but probably 2 missing from each side. I try to look after my teeth but have never been very lucky with my teeth. I have type 1 diabetes so I am not sure if this affects my teeth ? I went to my dentist today and she said the best option would be a chrome denture which I thought was for old people in a glass next to the bed. I had a quick look at the dentists but was a little worried people woud see I have dentures every time I smile and would they not be uncomfortable to eat with ? It looked like they clasp onto existing teeth so does this mean my good front teeth need to be groung to fit the clasp ? It would be great to see some pictures of chrome dentures and what they look like in someones mouth. Any advice or tips you could give me would be great as I feel really down about my teeth. Kind regards

I knocked part of my front four teeth which would be a better option crowns or veneers

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’ve had a bit of an accident today and knocked part of my front four teeth out (about half of each). I was thinking of having veneers anyway to correct them as they were slightly crooked but am now wondering whether these can be fitted over these broken teeth. Would crowns be better? I was under the impression that veneers just looked better. Thanks.

I have had a soregum behind my front tooth on the gum line could the tooth need root canal

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I hope that you can help. For the past week I have had a very soregum behind my front tooth not on the gumline but further down on or under the tooth dump. It is only sore behind the one tooth, and is very painful even if just touched by my tongue and the gum pulses after touching. The tooth feels great above the gum line no sensitivity and pain feels like it pulses through it just the gum. I have has a swollen glands for the last 3 days and dentist said that this was the reason and that it will clear up naturally. I had xrays and they have come back all clear. Why would only one tooth be affected by this as gums next to the tooth don’t hurt one bit? and is their anything I do to help the situation out. ie medicated mouthwash etc Please help even eating is very difficult now. Could the tooth need root canal or extraction without proof on xray”

My front teeth are crooked how long is the inman aligner procedure and what is the cost?

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I am emailing with regards to the Inman Aligner. My front two teeth are naturally crooked, as one overlaps the other. I want this correcting as i am becoming increasingly bothered about this, especially as i am training to be a solicitor and this involves a lot of presentations etc. Anyway, i was wondering how long this procedure would take and how much money is it going to cost? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
