I’ve had my two front teeth plated with dental veneers. My dentist recommended this as they were chipped and the fillings kept breaking off from a few hours to a few weeks after filling. The treatment was very painful as when he ground them down, it must have went close to the nerve. My face swelled up around my sinuses and I had a headache for days afterwords. Then when the veneers were put on a week ago, they were made very close together and the length of them were much shorter than my original teeth. They said they done this so I wouldn’t break them off. Now they lay in line with the teeth either side, instead of being slightly longer.
I now have a speech impediment as I cannot pronounce F or V properly, whereas I have always had correct pronunciation. I’m embarrassed to speak. I wish I never had this treatment done if I knew it was going to impair my speech.
My query is – is this normal for everyone to not being able to speak properly after having veneers fitted? What can I do to have this fixed? I looked at a website afterwords that stated Lumineers could have helped without unnecessarily destroying my teeth, but my dentist stated these were not as good as veneers and didn’t last as long? Is this true? and if so, how come dental websites can state they last 4 times as long if this is in fact the opposite?
I’m very unhappy with not being advised on what would happen when having veneers fitted, as I would not have agreed to them being fitted. I didn’t ask for them, I was told this was the only option besides bridges or crowns.
Please advise consciously.

Is it normal to develop a speech impediment after having veneers fitted?
Thursday, November 25th, 2010Would a bridge be suitable for a tooth that is fractured and another that is deeply filled?
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 I am a 53 year old female. Have always taken great care of my teeth. Over recent years have been treated by my dentist and hygienist for receding gums. Visited my dentist yesterday with what I though was just a crack in one of my old fillings, only to be told that the tooth was actually fractured vertically. It is in my upper jaw and third from the back. I have a wide smile and it will definitely show if I have it removed. My dentist advised that it may last for a year, (he drilled out the old filling and repacked it)
He was less than helpful about my options and I left the surgery confused and shocked. My question is would I be better off having an implant or a bridge to replace the gap. One of the teeth that would be needed to support the bridge is deeply filled. Also a guide to how much this would cost would be useful.
Thank you very much for your time.
Should I return to the dentist if antibiotics have relieved my tooth pain but I am unable to put pressure on my tooth?
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010Hi, I went to the dentist this week as I had waves of intense pain, ear ache and jaw ache, and medication wasn’t touching it. The dentist did an xray and couldn’t see anything wrong. My fillings that side looked normal, there were no tooth cracks either. However my wisdom tooth can be felt above my teeth and is inflamed. I have now been reffered to the hospital to have this removed. I was also given antibiotics. My question is, I am now 2 and a half days into my antibiotics and the very bad pain has gone, however I cant bite down as there is pain on one tooth. It’s so bad I cant eat as I cant put any pressure on it. Will the antibiotics clear this or is it something my dentist has missed? Should I return to the dentist before my course of Antibiotics is finished?

Is it possible to have a procedure corrected free of charge if it was not the agreed treatment?
Friday, November 19th, 2010I’ve recently (3 days ago) had porcelain veneers on my front two teeth as the bottoms were chipped and the fillings kept breaking off. The dentist fitted porc. veneers as a solution, but filled the gap I didn’t want filled and the teeth are shorter than originally, and now I have a speech impediment as I can’t pronounce the letter F without sounding like Daffy Duck. What are my rights in being able to have these changed at no fee?,
What can I do to replace a tooth that may need to be extracted?
Friday, November 19th, 2010Half of my back molar fell out so I’ve had two fillings which have fell out. Last time I visited my dentist gave me a replacement filling and some antibiotics for an abscess on the same tooth. The abscess still hasn’t gone so I think I’l have to get it taken out now which I’m very worried about, I don’t want to forever have a gap in my mouth and I also read that having a gap from a missing tooth will cause your other teeth to move and may fall out aswell. I’m 16 and really worried about it. Is there anything I can have done to replace the tooth?,
