Why do crown and filling keep falling out?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Q.
Hi Am 45 male and admit when younger l did not look after my teeth as l should have and have had a sweet tooth for many years. But l have tried hard, but over the last year l had my back teeth removed cos of decay. But what more worrying is l having larger filling at the backs which are just falling apart. Also I have 3 grown at the front. And over the year each one for no reason just falls out. I had them put back in but a few months later another one falls out. It now getting me very upset and worried about my teeth falling out. And no long like to even step outside the front door if it can be help. I even avoid some people at work so l doesn’t have to talk and open my mouth. I have read a lot about implants and yes for the front l would feel this would be great. But the truth is l cannot afford 3 implants and never will have that type of money. But l just cannot understand why each crown and filling is falling out. Am afraid to eat food and try to eat on the hard part of my gums. I cannot understand why all this is happing. But l thought as your help is Free in answering my question l can only hope for some help please.,

Implants to replace damaged tooth

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Caplan I have what I think ? is a (2-1-1-2) bridge. I broke it eating a spare rib. It’s still in place but pushed forward. Because I’ve a fear of dental drills I thought it would be better if I consulted a cosmetic dentist who could “knock me out” so to speak and fit implants so that I wouldn’t have to go through regular dental treatment anymore. Also, my gums bleed quite often though I’m very careful about my dental hygene. What do you advise? Thank you for your kind attention.,

Can kids have Invisalign treatment?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009
Q.
I was wanting invisiline and i was just wondering if invisline was for kids too. Also, for the majority, i have straight teeth, but there is this one crooked tooth that is in the bottom jaw towards the front and it is a little worse then the picture that is on the main website home page. Not as bad though. I was just wondering if invisiline will work for my tooth.

A protruding tooth is affecting me playing my trumpet

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
Q.
I am a professional trumpeter with a protruding upper tooth which affects my playing. I am wondering if having it removed and a dental implant inserted would help. How long after initial consultation would you typically be doing the surgery? How long after surgery would I be able to play trumpet? How many appointments are normally required?

Would a porcelain onlay or crown suitable for chipped tooth?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
Q.
I am about to have a crown replaced. the preparatory work has been done. Initially my dentisit said i could have a porcelain crown ..it is the last but one bottom tooth .. i have had my wisdom teeth removed. When he had prepared it adn i mentione dthe porcelain crown he said he had prepared for a gold crown .. that he CIULD prep for a porcelain but it would invlove more destruction of the tooth and i could have a metal base with a white covering ..to which i agreed ..but having thought about it psoke to him again becasue i wasnt sure about the appearance of this tooth . At which point he said this was the best chioce and that we were lucky to have been able to have a second bit e of the cherry in replacing the crown. He had not mentioned this before. So the new metal base crown is due to be fitted on Monday .I am hoping it will beok ..i spoke to a freind who had some and he was happy wiht his. meanwhile part of a large filling in the back tooth next to it ..the last one .. has chipped .. Would a porcelain onlay or crown be suitable for this tooth in theory??? Last time he repaired a back filling ( large one ) he saaid only amalgam was suitable . I am quite anxious to not have any more mercury in my mouth and i do not like the appearance even on back teeth.
