Need extensive makeover to my teeth

Saturday, October 31st, 2009
Q.
I’m 22 and my teeth are awful! I’m embarassed to smile, laugh and often get told to ‘cheer up’ because of my regular closed mouth expression. My teeth are discoloured, sensitive, and crooked. This is due to lack of dental care when I was a child. I regularly use whitening products, and sensitive toothpastes, I visit the dentist but just seem to have filling upon filling. I’m so scared of one of my front teeth completely falling out. I honestly feel like I would be happier with false teeth, which is a bit of a daunting prospect at the age of 22. Being a student, I cant afford cosmetic dentisty and even the financial plas seem to want £100+ a month, which just isnt an option for me. I don’t seem to have a local dentistry school, and even ones far away seem to have full waiting lists. I’ve considered using a student loan to go abroad to have ‘cheap’ dentistry work done but hav been advised this could make things even worse. What should I do?

What are prices for cosmetic bonding?

Friday, October 30th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I am interested in the option of cosmetic bonding as my teeth are slightly even and discoloured. I would like to know the kind of prices that this would involve (I understand this will vary from dentist to dentist so just a rough idea would be great) Thanks

Need latest treatment to fix my uneven crowded teeth

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had braces on my top teeth when I was 17. I’m now 30 and I’m very self conscious of my ‘goofy’ teeth. The braces did straighten my teeth but my top teeth have always stuck out over my bottom ones. When I close my back teeth I am able to slide my little finger between the gap. When I had braces they never addressed my crooked bottom teeth and so I never have elastic bands to help the alignment of my teeth/jaw. As an adult now I feel I was possibly mistreated. I’m incredibly self conscious of my smile and I find I’m beginning to hide my teeth and mouth when I speak and laugh. All of this infuriates my husband who insists its part of what makes me me but I hate it! Is there anything that could help?

What is the actual cost for crown replacement?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi, is there any treatment for crowns ‘slipping’ from the gums. This has happened to around 4 of my crowns (they have been there for around 5 years). You can see where they have slipped by the darker colour between the gum and the tooth. My dentist has told me the only solution is to replace them which will cost approx.£1800. is this right??? They are all front teeth (top). Many thanks.

Does cerec bridges have any advantage?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
I have a missing tooth needing a bridge. I have been advised that a CEREC replacement would be better than a normal bridge because the CEREC materials are chemically bonded to your neighbouring healthy teeth. This would enable my dentist to save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible. Is a CEREC bridge preferable as it allows the dentist to save more of your neighbouring healthy teeth?
