Can invisalign braces be fitted to teeth that have a crown fitted?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Q.
Hello. I have a crown on one of my top, central incisors which I have had for about 8 years. I have noticed over the last year or so that my top front teeth are becoming crooked – specifically, the tooth with the crown is moving forward very slightly. I am very unhappy with the effect this has on my smile and wanted to look into Invisalign braces or something similar (something discreet) but my question is whether it would be OK to undergo such treatement with a crown fitted, or whether the braces would cause the crown to break off, rather than realigning it and the remaining tooth underneath. Please advise me. Thank you.,

There is a crack in the veneer I have had for seventeen years, which was done on the NHS. Will I need a new one, and can I get it done on the NHS?

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010
Q.
Hi. My questions are about my veneers. I have 2 that were placed on my two outer upper incisors when I was 15. They were put on as the teeth they cover were too small on one side and pointed on the other. Aside from some gum recession they have been fine for the last 17 years. Until this morning when one cracked diagonally across the front. It feels loose at the back on one side now. Is it possible for it to be repaired or will it automatically need replacing? The second part to my question is regarding funding. I know generally veneers are regarded as a cosmetic procedure and therefore not possible to get on the NHS. With my case though, the original ones were fitted on the NHS. I actually remember having very little information given to me when they were done and future ramifications and costs, I was just told that they were going to be done! The teeth had their enamel ground away somewhat for the veneers to get a better purchase to adhere to. This means my enamel on those teeth are surely sub-standard so I will have no choice but to have veneers put back on. Does the fact that my teeth will be at risk if left with the enamel in that condition mean that it may not be regarded as cosmetic dentistry and thus be possible to be done through the NHS? Hope my queries make sense! Thanks in advance,

I have really bad teeth and am too scared to go back

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010
Q.
I have really bad teeth and am too scared to go back to the dentists. My last visit was about 5 years ago just before my youngest daughter was diagnosed with a life limiting condition and I hate to say it but I neglected my own health and teeth while looking after her. I now have a rotting tooth right at the front plus many other problems – I lived on fizzy drinks to give me energy and smoked 10 cigarettes a day for stress and am now paying the price. What can I do to sort them out? Where can I go where I won’t be looked at in disgust? Really sad and depressed about this and the amount of time I spend worrying about this should be spent with my daughter but I just don’t know what to do….,
