Hello Dr Hughes. The dentist advised me to have all my upper teeth removed as I was born with a cleft palette which was operated on as a baby. I can’t seem to wear the dentures they have given me as they irritate the roof of my mouth. Is there anything I can do on the NHS or is private my only option? I do work but being a single parent and only aged 49, I would struggle to go privately. I get violently sick whenever I wear my denture. I would appreciate any advice? Thank you.
Hi, I am 48 years old, I have an implant bolted to my upper jaw. I also have bi-lateral cleft palate and lip. I think something is moving in my upper jaw area. This implant was put in when I was a child. I am having a lot of trouble with this, is there any help available for some one like me with out insurance. I feel that if this implant is removed my upper jaw is going to move, I still have opening in the roof of my mouth. I think that it is holding my jaw together. I suffer headaches, ear aches, and the teeth around this are all broken. What do you think I should do? Thank you.
I am 21 and have a cleft lip and palate. Many of my teeth are missing and others are weak and in bad condition, when i was younger dental implants were discussed, is this something i would be entitled to on the nhs? I would also like to inquire about fixed dentures, as i dont want to start wearing adhesives so young and have my jaw reduce, i also don’t want to have to show future partners etc. Please help because i really am so upset at the lack of confidence this issue has ensued. I just want to know what the best free treatment is for someone in my situation before i go abroad and have second rate surgeries at the cheapest price possible. Thanks
