Any other alternative for broken front top tooth then built the tooth

Hi, last year my 10 year old son fell and broke his front top tooth abouth half way. We took him to the dentist who built the tooth back up. He had no problems for the first 9 to 10 months but recently he has been getting pain in his tooth. We took him back to see his dentist ( a different one as the first one had left the practise ) and they said that he needs root canal surgery. I asked if there was another alternative to this and was just given a no! Just wondering if you could give me any other options which could possibly be done. Thanks.

Hi i have some very bad broken off teeth and their decaying. i have had an abcess for three days now but i went to the dr and got penicillin i plan to have the tooth removed in a week or so. but my question is this the pain in my tooth has been pretty bad i started takeing the meds yesterday the penicillin and they gave me hydrocodone 5/500 the pain has eased off but today when i woke up i noticed that a part of chin has a numb sensation about it i can feel when i touch it but it just dont feel right what could be causeing this? its got me really worried thanks.

How to remove a broken baby tooth?

Hey I have a tooth that is a molar that is broken that was broken since about 8 years ago and its not infected but was wondering how my dentist would remove it as it is a baby tooth. basically I would love to hear many options and the thing is that all the sides of the tooth is still up but the middle is all gone. So I was wondering what kind of ways a dentist could remove a tooth like that?

I have bad rotten teeth what treatment do u suggest me?

Hi, I’m 28 years old and i have always had bad teeth and oral hygiene in general. The last time i visited a dentist was around 14 years ago. The teeth that didn’t have to be extracted had fillings so my mouth was already in quite a mess. Now it has got to the stage where at least 50% of my teeth have completly rotted away right down to the gum line and below. All i see now when i open my mouth is big black holes in my gums. The remaining teeth, mostly being the front visable ones have very bad cavities and are discusting to look at. Having done research online i am absolutly petrified of related health issues caused by bad oral hygeine. I’m so depressed right now i just dont know what to do, I have no friends, people think i am ignorent because i never smile and dont like to look at people when they speak to me incase they look at my teeth. I am jobless at the moment, i wanna go back to work but too worried about what the interviewer will think when he see’s my teeth. I really want friends and to socialise but im just so embarassed to go anywhere or speak to anyone. I currently recieve social security benefits so spending thousands of pounds to fix my teeth is not an option for me. I just don’t know what to do or where to turn, i just want to be able to smile and laugh without looking at the floor or putting my hand over my mouth. I have a partner of 8 years who keeps telling me to sort it but she just dosn’t understand why i carn’t face going to see a dentist. I carn’t even smile in front of my 3 children because im so scared of them seeing my bad teeth and asking questions about them, even my own kids think im ignorent and misrable. I’m quite sure i’m way past the help of a regular dentist because i don’t believe any of my teeth can be saved and its actually my gums that look pretty messed up now. Please help me turn my life around and smile again. Your help and advice is very much appreciated.

I have broken and decayed teeth but i fear dentists plz advice?

I am 47 years old and have not been to a dentist for 27 years after a quite terryfying experience. I have lost alot of teeth and apart from a few at the front bottom and top the others remaining are broken or decaying. I am scared stiff of the dentist and get panicky just thinking about it. Could you give me some idea of how I will accepted if I go. I do not want to be lectured as i am well aware of my situation. What I need is a sympathic and calming approach but I am really scred this may not be the case.

Im 23 and am embarrassed with my teeth what can i do?

Hi Dr Moore Im 23 and am extremely embarrased at the state of my teeth. Toward the back I have lost two on the upper jaw, and have lost part of three teeth on the bottom jaw – presumably from caries. There are also small holes in two of my front teeth near the gumline I feel very nervous at the propect of going to see the dentist because I have neglected my oral healthcare, although I do brush regularly now – I was never really promted to during my childhood. I dont where possible want to have any, or many teeth extracted as I dont discuss my oral health with my partner – again, too embarrased as her teeth are great – she is registered with an NHS dentist wheras I am not and have been reluctant to do so because i feel the way i do. What other options are there to retain as many of my current teeth? i understand without an examination its difficult to say, but from a worst case scenario.. I especially do not want to have to wear dentures, so other options would be essential for this. I have done a bit of research into some of the options, but I thought i would pluck up the courage and speak to someone about it. Many thanks,

Can i get my teeth treated at a dental teaching hospital?

Hello, Quick question, I lost one front tooth due to domestic violence and other has a hair line fracture and apparently the root did not develop so the only support it has is the gum. I can’t afford to go private so I have no choice but to go to a Dental teaching hospital, the only one I know of is Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital. Are they the only ones in London? And is the risk worth going to a teaching hospital. I’m worried I may come out worse than when I went in.

im suffering from sensitive gumline after restoration plz advice?

Hi, I had a white restoration on a lower right molar today. After having drilled out the bulk of the old filling, my dentist was using an instrument with some force when the inner side of the tooth broke off (I felt it ‘go’ and it flew up into my line of sight). As a result, he “was not able to contour the tooth the way he would have liked to” and (now the anaesthetic has worn off) the restoration feels quite uncomfortably sensitive on the gumline and the tooth has an unnatural shape that seems to trap food when I eat and which feels weird as well. After the procedure, my dentist said that things hadn’t gone as expected and he’d “used an instrument to check how strong the tooth was and sometimes during this procedure, the tooth breaks”. Having thought about this it seems completely counter-intuitive that someone would risk breaking the structure of the tooth as he stated and I’m sceptical that he told me the truth. Is there such an instrument to test the strength of the tooth? My feeling is that it broke while he was using a ‘pick’ to try to break out some old amalgam filling in the drilled cavity. I like my dentist and he’s done really good work for me in the past, but having parted with £170 for this procedure (on top of the other charges for Hygienist Visit, X-Rays and 10 Point Exam the previous day), I suddenly lack trust in him and I’m wondering if I should spend my money elsewhere in future. I appreciate that any answer you might give is nothing more than an opinion and has no legal meaning or weight, but I’d really appreciate your take on this situation as I’m at a loss as to what I should do.
