Q.
Hello, I have been to the dentist today to have a filling and my dentist gave me 1 needle and started drilling straight away, while he was doing this the pain was unbearable he then gave me 2 more needles and tryed again the pain was still agony and he said i waas lying even though i was shaking and crying. i am not terrified of going again but i have to go 4 more times for 4 more fillings. i was wondering could i be put under general anastetic so they could do everything that needed doing in one go as i dont think i could possible go back and be awake for another filling im just to scared!! please help me!!

Ive a huge phobia of needles can ive treatment under general aneastetic

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
I have a huge phobia of needles and because of it have very bad teeth, i have had to have 10 removed under general aneastetic (gas induction because of my phobia) and have had an abcess that spread to my sinus and apparently almost killed me. Because of this I was wondering whether it is possible to have a full clearance under general aneastetic with a gas induction and how much this could cost me?

im suffering from sensitive gumline after restoration plz advice?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had a white restoration on a lower right molar today. After having drilled out the bulk of the old filling, my dentist was using an instrument with some force when the inner side of the tooth broke off (I felt it ‘go’ and it flew up into my line of sight). As a result, he “was not able to contour the tooth the way he would have liked to” and (now the anaesthetic has worn off) the restoration feels quite uncomfortably sensitive on the gumline and the tooth has an unnatural shape that seems to trap food when I eat and which feels weird as well. After the procedure, my dentist said that things hadn’t gone as expected and he’d “used an instrument to check how strong the tooth was and sometimes during this procedure, the tooth breaks”. Having thought about this it seems completely counter-intuitive that someone would risk breaking the structure of the tooth as he stated and I’m sceptical that he told me the truth. Is there such an instrument to test the strength of the tooth? My feeling is that it broke while he was using a ‘pick’ to try to break out some old amalgam filling in the drilled cavity. I like my dentist and he’s done really good work for me in the past, but having parted with £170 for this procedure (on top of the other charges for Hygienist Visit, X-Rays and 10 Point Exam the previous day), I suddenly lack trust in him and I’m wondering if I should spend my money elsewhere in future. I appreciate that any answer you might give is nothing more than an opinion and has no legal meaning or weight, but I’d really appreciate your take on this situation as I’m at a loss as to what I should do. Best regards,

Will anesthetic cause problems to the heart?

Saturday, August 29th, 2009
Q.
Why is it that when I have a dentist drill on my teeth I always have some sensativity even if given a second dose of novacaine. Second question, I have recently had palpitations of the heart after about a week of using novacaine. Could this be the cause of my palpitations? They haven’t stopped for about a month now. Any advice? I have never had heart problems before.

Can i get my teeth taken out under general anesthesia at the hospital?

Monday, August 24th, 2009
Q.
Hello, back in october last year i had 8 teeth removed,2 months later i had a dental absess that ingulfed my face. i had to have surgery and more teeth removed as they plugged the absess. in that time i had the inside of my mouth cut open in 2 places with a scalpul and an epidural needle plunged into my face. as a result of this i have had a nervous breakdown and think about my mouth 24 hours a day. i have only 7 teeth on the top set left, 2 have extreme long tooth and 2 are crowns, the bottom i have 9 teeth all my fronts mainly and one side which i use to eat. they need a very deep clean.now since all this has happened i have tried to go to the dentist but i have huge panick attacks and vomit my nerves are shot, i even tried to go via sedation but even the though of needles etc coming near me sends me into tears and i cant breath. as i cant seem to deal with this would i be able to have my teeth taken out under general at the hospital, and if so how would i go about doing this. would be grateful for any advice.

I had a collapse after having the lignocaine as an anesthesia can u advice on it

Friday, August 14th, 2009
Q.
I am 58 yrs old and had before dental works and extraction with (xiline) lignocaine +adrenaline as anesthesia. But 2 years ago, when the same anesthesia was injected to me, to remove one tooth on upper maxilary, I had a collapse (immediately my ears got blocked and I could not hear at all, I almost fainted and my breathing was fast. I was laid down on the floor for 3 hours. Since then I am afraid to go to dentist, althoug I need urgently to restore my teeths? PLEASE help me, what kind of anesthesia can I use not to have these symptoms? I live in Bucharest and I’ve tried all and nobody knows why, some say the anestesia was wrongly injected, some say I may be allergic to lignocaine(Xiline). I am not sick with heart, but I have hypothiroidia (some small nodules). Please help. THANKS
