Hi, Dr Patel. I want to ask you something. I’m 14 years old and I would really like some kind of a guide to achieving a degree in dentistry, such as the type of subjects I would need to study and what levels in each subject to get? At the minute I have picked: Triple Science, French, Business Studies, Maths, English, and Geography would you say some of these subjects will help me? Also I would like to know what A-LEVEL levels I need to get to be allowed to take the dentistry course because in so interested in becoming a dentist. I so hope you can help me, thank you in advance.

Can My Daughter Get Braces On The NHS If She Is Over 18?
Monday, January 7th, 2013 Hello Doctor, My daughter is born 1993 and desperately needs to have braces fitted. She is bullied at school for her bad teeth and it is affecting her badly. She is currently in sixth form and studying her A levels, which is stressful enough as it is without the added stress of her anxiety over the appearance of her teeth which is only worsened by the bullying. She fears if her teeth aren’t fixed soon then the bullying will continue at university and for the rest of her life. I had once tried to get her the dates for braces which I did get but then I moved to a different place and I could not attend the appointment.
Please advise me! Do you think, her being in full time education still and her having severely crooked teeth,if she could get an exception from NHS .
I am a single parent and cannot afford to buy expensive braces. Please guide Many Thanks, I look forward to hearing your response.

I want to pursue a career in dentistry, any advice?
Friday, August 6th, 2010Dear Sir,I am currently studying for my A-Levels at Woodhouse Sixth Form College in London. For my A-Levels I have taken biology, chemistry, psychology and math, and I am hoping to pursue a career in dentistry once I have completed my A-Levels As an extracurricular activity I have taken up an Extended Project Qualification. The EPQ provides an additional AS-Level, and can be based on any area that an individual chooses to explore. I have based my Extended Project on cosmetic dentistry, and the question I am investigating is: “Is the increase in cosmetic dentistry a reflection of today’s image conscious society?†I would be grateful if you could provide your opinion on this question. This would be much appreciated. Thank You Regards,

Do you have to pay the college to train to become a dentist? Is it hard work? How much do you get paid a year? How many hours a week do you work? Do you get days off? I think that is about it.,
