Should I have the pure ceramic crown or the metal ceramic combination crown?

Q. I want to go for Cosmetic surgery, but confused to make choice between metal ceramic combination crown and pure ceramic crown. Because cost is quiet high for pure ceramic crown. Can you please suggest the best option and why should I go for that option?,
A. I would recommend Emax all ceramic crowns as these can be bonded to your teeth to strengthen them and the aesthetics are beautiful

I have for some years had crowns done privately . when I noticed some Gum shrinkage I visited the dentist I am now with as the original dentist had retired. The appointment was made with a young dentist and he suggested replacing all crowns at a cost of £400 a tooth–total £7,500 the gum shrinkage was unsightly and sometimes the teeth were sensitive so i agreed to go ahead. This took some time and the dentist did on occasion do 4 teeth which I thought was too many at once. However the top teeth, where there is a bridge fitted on the eye tooth and 2nd tooth back from that is now giving me trouble and some pain. I have been to see the partner of this practice and he ground some of the back of bridge but I am still in pain. Can I ask for areplacement as I feel the teeth are not in right position and how long do I have to claim on gaurantee?

I have had an all on 4 procedure and having temporary bridges fitted. The permanent bridges of metal framework and denture teeth comes high.-. Should I shop around? and is it normal procedure for some back teeth to be missing in the temporary btridges?

I am 60 years of age and have had a partial denture comprising of 4 front upper teeth since I was about 15, my front teeth came through crooked and were removed about 1965. I have a chrome partial denture and would like to consider replacing this with a bridge. Unfortunately I tend to suffer with what my dentist calls a gag reflux or soft pallet and therefore trips to thedentist can therefore be extremely worrying and stressful. I would like your advice (difficult without seeing me I know) on whether a Cerec bridge would be advisable or should I consider a conventional bridge since my jawbonemay not be suitable for implants after so many years without natural teeth. I have no issue with travelling within the UK to get the best treatment as I may also consider having veneers to my lower front teeth as well. Thankyou for you advice.

Hi, I am currently seeking a quote for work on my teeth. I broke my frontkeft hand tooth as a child and it has a cap. This cap has not been replaced for some time. I have been informed that at this point (I am now 29) I needa permanent crown. My problem is that I also suffer fro a cross bite whichhas at times caused me to chip the cap on my front tooth. My own dentist has told me that I require a metal(steel?) backed crown which will allow theteeth to slide off it and not chip the tooth/crown. I also would like to have my teeth whitened. Can you please provide me with a tgeneral idea of what costs I will be looking at here. I am checking this out in the Republic at the moment as I understand prices have dropped. If they are still too high though I will be going north of the border. I look forward to receiving your quote. Thanks

I am looking to enquire about the cost of six dental crowns. My top front six teeth require to be replaced. I was advised this by a new dental practice that I joined. They informed me that I grined my teeth however, my top two front teeth do not touch my bottom teeth. My teeth have been like this since child hood and I am very conscious about my teeth too the extent that Isent an application to the dental college and cover my mouth when out in public. I also have fang like teeth over the front of my two front teeth oneof which has a cavity. I must stress that I do brush my teeth twice a day, floss and use mouth wash. It is having such an impact on my life that it is causing detremental effects on my social life. I am 33 yrs of age and I have been advised that if I go ahead with my current dentist it will cost meover A33000. I am currently at university full time and working part timewithin social care with children and families and feel at a loss of what to do. The dentist advised me that if I do not act on his advice soon I could face root canal treatment or worse. Can you help?

Hi am 20 years old and i am very uncomfortable with my smile as I have a pushed back front tooth, my teeth are quite unhealthy and crocked but I was just wandering would I be able to get a veneer on that pushed back tooth for my smile to look relatively straight or is that not an option? I don’t like smiling much in pictures because my pushed back tooth always makes my smile look very crocked and it doesn’t make me feel confident to smile. Also for getting only one veneer roughly how much would that be in the uk?

Mitchel Says :

A single veneer can work well provided your bite will accommodate the new tooth. as a guide the cost will be £500 approx.

When I was younger I was pushed and broke my front tooth, it had capped then evetually got crowned but I am not 100% happy with it. After i had it done i had a lot of trouble with my canal as it caused a lot of absess pain, could this be fixed so that it does not look out of place as much and what would the price range from? I am looking for it to be done locally where I live but as you can gather it would have to be done privately

You need to see a dentist for a proper quote but we would charge around £800 for the treatment.

I have just registered with a new dentist. After checking my teeth he has informed me that I needed a Metal Ceramic Crown. I saw the X-ray and the tooth showed a gap and also a black area within the tooth. I accept that the tooth needs dental work or replacing, but am concerned about the ‘metal’ issue. Is this safe or is there a safer option? I would appreciate a quick response as my appointment was made very quickly for tomorrow! (Monday 12th Nov 2012) Thanks in advance.

You could always ask for a non-metal fully ceramic crown or onlay.
