Should I get my tooth reshaped or have orthodontic treatment to improve my smile?

Q.
Hi,
I was looking for a bit of advice. I live in Belfast and had braces when I was about 14. After getting the braces removed my teeth moved again back to a slight overbite and crookedness which I think might have been because of a lack of a retainer. I am 23 now and looking for a straighter smile. Would braces work for me with already having teeth removed for previous brace? Also I heard about teeth and gum reshaping and wondered if that would be beneficial to me. Basically I am a bit confused and wondering if an orthodontist is the way to go or is a tooth and gum reshaping option better. Thank you for any help you can provide

For teeth that are healthy but in the wrong position I would always recommend orthodontics followed by a good period of retention
