Should healty impacted (Mesioangular impaction) wisdom teeth be removed from my 18 year old son?

Q. Should healty impacted (Mesioangular impaction) wisdom teeth be removed from my 18 year old son? Oral surgeon says yes but there is other information from experts on the web that say No. I am confused.

A. Hi

It is very difficult to give a conclusive answer without a clinical and radiogarphic examination.

If the tooth is causing damage or causing repeated episodes of infection, then we may extract the tooth. Of course the treating surgeon would also explain the risks of extracting the tooth.

My advice would be, that if you have concerns then you could get another second opinion from a oral surgeon.
