root canal on my front crowns

Q. My front four teeth are porcelain crowns. I have been told that two of the crowns are infected and root canal treatment is required. Most of the literature available on this treatment refers to side teeth and does not explain how this treatment is undertaken to front teeth which are already crowned.

A.  If you are happy with the porcelain crowns that you have, the nerve can be accessed from the back of the crown. The front teeth only have one nerve so root canal treatment isn’t too bad. I would advise having the root treatments carried out by a specialist, this way you can ensure that the treatment is carried out to the highest standard, in this case the teeth will have the best prognosis.
I hope this helps
