People Have Often Commented On The Placement Of My Teeth. What Can Be Done To Straighten Them?

Q.
Hi, I have a crooked a single crooked tooth on the top row of teeth right at the front. I want to know what can be done to fix the problem, it isn’t a major issue but really knocks my confidence when smiling or talking to individuals face to face? I have mulled over the thought of what kind of straightening needs to be done but do not know what to do about it. It has been this way for a few years and my peers and acquaintances have told me that over time the tooth will straighten itself, it has not done so. It has been reoccurring as a question I have been asking myself. People have often noticed and commented on the placement and it has really knocked my confidence. I have been to the dentist a lot for check ups every 6 months as standard, they have said that I do not need a brace so there is nothing I can think of doing but to seek cosmetic advice/help.

Hello and thanks for getting in touch. From the sound of things you would be an ideal candidate for short term orthodontic treatment (STO). This is a relatively modern concept that utilises conventional orthodontic concepts (braces or aligners) to improve mispositioned teeth, with a focus on improving aesthetics or the overall appearance of your teeth. I suggest you look at systems such as Six Month Smiles, C-fast, Inman Aligner and Clear Aligners to get an idea of the concept and perhaps arrange a consultation (which is often free) with a local dentist who is offering these treatments, who will be able to give you a better idea of your suitability, likely costs and the likely length of treatment. If you go to the official website of any of these systems you will be able to search for a list of dentists in your area who are certified to carry out the treatment. I really hope this helps. Kind regards, Marcus Gambroudes.
