My teeth have become sensitive all of a sudden and I am being asked to remove the nerve

Q. Suddenly one of my front teeth and one at the same side have become very sensitive to hot and cold fluids – I have had several lots of a brown flouride to rub on but this has made no difference and I have now been advised to have the nerves removed. Can my teeth not be coated with the white substance that used to be used and subjected to ultra violet light to harden? I had a small tooth made bigger using this method and that has lasted for over 30 years with no probs.

A. It depends on the source of the problem. If the nerve is involved then removal of the nerve is the only option to get rid of the pain. If the sensitivity is more supperficial the dentist could try bonding resin to reduce the pain
