My front tooth has moved me dentist says I need a veneer

Q. Hi, One of my two front teeth has slowly changed position over the years. It has moved both slightly outward and slightly over the neighboring front tooth. A dental hospital has recommended to my dentist that all that is needed is a veneer on the neighboring tooth, to balance things out but I\’m not convinced. i’m thinking about a crown, which he agrees is a better solution but keeps saying I would be losing tooth tissue. What do you think ?

A. It is difficult to give you a definitive answer without seeing you and some x-rays. My primary concern is to find out why the teeth have moved, this could be due to periodontal disease which causes loss of the supporting bone around the teeth allowing then to shift. Once this is determined a veneer may be a better option as it is more conservative to your own tooth but as you say a crown is also a viable option. Cosmetically you may need to look at treating both front teeth to get a more even result.
I Hope this helps you.
