My dentists has noticed early signs of erosion on my teeth, what do you suggest I do?

Q.
On a recent visit to the dentist i was informed that my teeth are showing the first signs of erosion. He informed me that it was not bad enough for a filling and that it could be reversed by leaving toothpaste overnight. I have tried this but is rather sickly.

Is there anything else i can do ?

If the process has already started is it too late to have the fluoride varnish put on to reduce further erosion ?

On your website you mention fluoride gels, are these available in chemists ? can you recommend ?

A.
we recommend Colgate Duraphat 2800 or a stronger version 5000 to apply twice daily. You also need to avoid acidic or sugery foods

In some cases it might be related to settling the bite.

Dear Dentist How do you restore the enamel on your teeth as I have abrasive scratches on my canines due to brushing vigorously in the past? Could whitening with hydrogen peroxide have caused this? Thank you

Brennan Says :

Best option is cosmetic bonding, good quality whitening products bought from a dentist will not cause this.

I am reacting to metal cutlery (spoons, forks etc), drinks with acid, hot beverages. My front teeth are the most affected. One has a slight horizontal crack on the biting edge and the other is slowly wearing off on the biting edge. on the biting edges. I am also reacting to noises, where metal pots, cutlery, sound o my high heels when walking on pavements, or someone dragging a cardboard box. i have also discovered i clench my teeth during the day and night not sure if it make noise during the night. Some of the teeth have developed a whiter layer on the bottom of the teeth, which could be signs of decay. My teeth are also not properly aligned .

Not really sure whats causing this so it would be good to see a dentist as soon as possible to perhaps first deal with the clenching or tooth grinding habit to see if that helps.

I have recently noticed that my front teeth have gone slightly transparent at the biting edges. I am concerned this is acid erosion, but I cannot work out why I would have this as I do not drink fruit juice, fizzy drinks or wine (the only drinks I consume are water, milk or unsweetened rooibos tea) or eat fruit. I also clean my teeth gently about three times a day and also use a mouthwash at night. Do you have any idea what this transparency might be?

Kyla Says :

It might be wear on the teeth caused by grinding, it would be worth asking your dentist to check things over with a view to wearing a bite guard
