My dentis gave me a gold crown instead of a porcelain one, what can I do?

Q.
I had a crown fitted recently and it was not what I have expected. Before the procedure I had two dental appointments during which I have discussed with my dentist about the type and colour of the crown. I clearly asked for a porcelain crown and picked out a shade from the catalogue. After a crown has been fitted I saw that a gold crown was in place, not the porcelain I had picked out. The dentist does not take any responsibility for the mistake and just said that nothing can be done now.
Is there anything that could be done to correct the problem as I’m not happy with the way the gold crown shows when I smile?
A.
You should have signed a treatment plan before starting treatment that would detail the crown specification. Contact the practice for a copy of your consent. IF they dont have one you could consider a formal complaint as all practices will have a complaints procedure.
