My daughter is 12yr old can she get veneers fitted at this age?

Q. Iwas at the dentist yesterday with my 12yr old daughter, she didn’t need any treatment as such but my dentist recommended she have 2 veneers fitted and her “fangs” filed, i thought she was a bit young, in your opinion what do you think?

A. I would not recommend this at all. Especially if it has been recommended by the dentist and not an issue that your daughter has brought up herself. Even if you daughters ‘fangs’ bother her, orthodontic work may be able to correct this for her which is much more suitable for a girl of her age as it is completely non-invasive.

You are right in thinking your daughter is too young for this kind of treatment- once a veneer is placed it is permanent and cannot be reversed. It also has a financial implication as they will need to be replaced every 10-15 years.

Kind regards
