My 8-year-old grandson has been told he needs orthodontic treatment, is this available on the NHS and should I get a second opinion?
Q.
My Grandson who is nearly 8 has teeth growing in all sorts of places and his new ones are coming through without some of the baby teeth having come out yet. His dentist suggested private Orthodontist treatment. They have now assessed him and recommend removal of some teeth as well as braces for 2 years at a cost of £3,000 or more. I think a second opinion should be sought before launching into radical treatment and I thought children would be treated under the NHS. Please let me have your opinion.

early treatment like this isn’t always covered by the NHs so it would be worth getting a second opinion
