my 2 year old son needs to have his three front teeth pulled out

Q. I have just been told that my 2 year old son would have to have his 3 front teeth pulled out because they were chipped and now eroding into his gums.Breast fed till he was nearly 2 yaers old. This problem started with one of his big tooth as soon as it came out( at around 6 months). The colour wasn’t right and before I could take him to the dentist It broke into two. The two teeth on the left of it have since gone on to exhibit the same thing and now the consultant at the hospital wants them removed but will not offer any form of repalcement. I find it disturbing to to imagine my boy without his 3 front teeth from now till he’s about 6-7 years old. IS THERE NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO COVER THE GAP THAT WILL BE LEFT AFTER THE PROCEDURE. Thank you.

A. Unfortunately if the baby teeth have to be removed then there really is nothing that can be done to replace them.  Sometimes the permanent teeth can erupt as early as 4 years old so he may not be without teeth for too long.  He will cope, but it is important to monitor the big teeth as they grow to make sure they strong.
