I’ve Been A Smoker For Years And Now My Teeth Are Black And Starting To Hurt. What Should I Do?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes. I have been smoking for years and I have a lot of black teeth. It hurts when I eat and I don’t know how to sort it out. I’m full time work but I can’t afford loads of money and I don’t know what to do. I was hoping you can offer advice on this. I would do anything to get it sorted. I admit it’s no-one’s fault by my own but I just need a bit if confidence and help to get my life back to how I want it. Is there anything I can do. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Hello and thank you for contacting me. Please go and see a dentist local to you as soon as possible. It’s difficult to say what’s wrong with you without seeing you in person. This website can provide you with information on a number of treatments that may be applicable to you. Many practices have payment plans to spread the costs, try to find one in your area. You could also ask your dentist to refer you to a local dental hospital. I hope this helps you find the treatment you need. Best wishes,  Mark.
