is there a difference between premium and non-premium onlays?

Q. Is there a big difference between premium grade onlays, and non-premium grade onlays (composite). Are there consequences to the composite onlays such as gum recession?,
A. Not sure what the premium ones are made of but i guess they are porcelain, these are harder wearing and should last longer
