Is some form of braces the only method of straigtening teeth or is there any alternative

Q. Hi, I am interested in getting my teeth straightened and want to inquire about invisalign and lingual braces. In terms of time, which one achieves the quickest result. Furthermore, are veneers primarily used to fill in gaps etc, do they help in straigtening the teeth? Is some form of braces the only method of straigtening teeth, is there any other cosmetic alternatiive. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon Kind regards

A. Hi, many thanks for your email, i will outine the options to straighten teeth:

1:braces, either fixed buccal(front placed) or lingual(back placed), treatment times from 6-24 months dependant on the severity of treatment need.

2:invisalign, clear removable brace, treatment times between 6 – 24 months.

3:Veneers, cosmetic option to increase speed of treatment, but the main disadvantage is the level of tooth destruction needed to correct the crookedness, veneers are thin pieces of porcelain which are placed over the teeth to give an illussion that the teeth are straight.

i hope this is helpful.

My advice would be to seek a cosmetic dentist to help improve your knoweldge of all the options and to be able to make a informed decision.
