A. Hi, unerupted canines are a common thing. i understand that at 16, it is a big step in having orthodontic work and you will feel very self conscious about it. If you are not liking the idea of having metal braces, then perhaps you should discuss this along with your parents, to your orthodontist. He/she may offer you alternatives such as clear braces etc. As they are for cosmetic reasons, you will probably be expected to pay for these privately. Lingual braces may not be an option in your case, but the best thing I would suggest is to discuss YOUR concerns and options with the orthodontist. It is after all, you that will be wearing them.
