Is it normal to still have baby teeth at the age of 22?

Q. Hello, I am 22 years old and I still have quiet a few of my baby teeth. Is this normal. Im not worried about it curious about it. Thank you

A. Its not normal they should have all fallen out around age 14, it probably isn’t a problem but maybe worth getting checked by your dentist

I’m 28 and still have three milk teeth and no wisdom teeth. Is this normal?

My son is 14 and he was born a preemie at 28 weeks. He still has most of his baby teeth and the Dentist does not seem to be concerned. Also most of his baby teeth are yellow. Will his adult teeth come in yellow too?

is it necessary to pull out milk teeth that have caries, or even do a root canal? i personally don’t find a need because they will fall out soon enough, but what are the options from an expert?

If they are left it could cause problems with the new teeth underneath as well as possible abscesses in the future

My son is 16 – his top right incisor is a baby tooth , the permanent tooth is still above it and isn’t descending. His dentist told us to pull it, wait to see if the permanent one comes down, if not, we would need to “pull it down” and he would be in braces. If we didn’t do this, he would certainly have an abcess in the future.

I had my dentist look at him for a second opinion (she’s also an orthodonist). She said she wouldn’t mess with it. She said his teeth are straight, his bite is perfect, etc. She said many of her patients still have their baby teeth into their 50s and 60s. She said the risk is that the perm tooth would become anchored to the bone and it would never come down. She suggested keeping everything as is.

What is your opinion – pros and cons of each option?

Thanks!
