Is it normal to have a bridge placed over an extracted tooth on the same day the tooth was extracted?

Q. Is it normal to have a bridge placed over an extracted tooth on the same day the tooth was extracted?

A. Sometimes if I take a tooth out I will place a temporary bridge over the gap and leave it for 6-8 weeks to allow the gums and bone to heal and then make the new permanent bridge.
