Is dental crown falling out as can see some of original tooth?

Q. I have had a crown on my top front left tooth for 15 years. It now has shifted down some from the gum and you can see the original tooth a little. The gum around the tooth does hurt a little. Is this a sign that the crown may be falling out? I am considering whitening my teeth and replacing the crown. Im not sure what to do but I am so paranoid that it will fall out.,
A. It is probably normal gum shrinkage and isn’t a sign that the crown is going to fall out. If you whiten the teeth it would be best to replace the crown as the colour will probably be different. If so the new crown could be made to come out of the gum covering the tooth more.

l am wanting a crown / veneer / some other cosmetic work, to cover my incisor. currently have had around 5 composites, each. was white at the start but quickly appeared yelloe or fell off after several months or couple of years. my dentist said the incisor is a bit thin for a white crown, he did recommend a white surfaced one with a metallic rear. This is for strength l presume. thanks in advance for your help

Dear Enquirer, We are able to place all ceramic crowns on front teeth which both have the advantages that they offer excellent aesthetics and strength, so in theory, you may be suitable for a porcelain crown. If your bite is very tight at the front between upper and lower teeth and the incisor tooth is thin, you may require te prescribed crown with te metal back. Regards

Hello, i have a crown on one of my front teeth, it is over 20 years old and i have noticed that a gap has appeared at the top of my tooth showing a black line.( it looks from appearance that the crown is slipping off but it still feels very secure on my tooth) There is a existing post underneath the crown. Could the gap be filled without having to have the whole cap replaced or would i need to have the complete crown ? Could you also tell me what the apporx cost of this would be please? Many Thanks

Hi, I would really like comestic work on my smile but I am very confused at where to go and what I need. Many places charge large fees for consultation and I’m not sure they will offer what I want. My teeth are quite straight but my I have two fangs which really bother me. I also don’t feel my top set sit well on my lower set of teeth when I smile, which leads me to always smiling with my mouth closed. I also require a finance plan which limits my options. Any help you could offer will be great. Thanks.
