Is bump on gum connected to issue with root canal?

Q. I am in need of a root canal but I have not gotten it because of insurance. I will get it soon. I have noticed that I have a sizeable bump on the gum of that tooth that needs a root canal. I was wondering if it was connected to the need of a root canal. It has not gone down or anything.,
A. I would recommend that you visit your Dentist just to have the lump assessed. It is not unusual for an abcess to form in the area of the tooth which is in need of root canal treatment. I wish you well with your treatment. Many Thanks. Dr Kailesh Solanki
