Im 20 and having major dental damage due to decay should i go through with 8 extractions?

Q. Hi I just went to a local dentist last week. The dental team took x-rays. I have known for awhile my teeth aren’t in good condition due to major decay-I have a fear of the dentist. So what the team told me wasn’t much of a surprise. The dentist recommends I go to an oral surgeon for 8 molar extractions. This isn’t even counting my wisdom teeth that are beginning to break through. I’m only 20 years old and I find all of this to be very tramatizing already. I dread going to a surgeon to have 8 teeth removed at once as this dentist suggested. I’m sure my mouth is full of infection. I feel pain occasionally. I go back to the dentist for a filling for another tooth tomorrow. My question is at my age (20) and having major dental damage due to decay should I go through with 8 extractions? Please let me know.

A. If your teeth are that bad it doesn’t sound like you have a choice. It is better to remove the teeth/infcetions early to give you a chance to replace the teeth at a later date.
