I woud like to know how much discomfort to expect after veneers are fitted

Q. I woud like to know how much discomfort to expect after veneers are fitted. I had 6 veneers fitted three weeks ago and have had to take strong painkillers night and day ever since. This is not sensitivity but a throbbing pain which barely leaves me for any length of time. I stay almost 70 miles away from my dentist but saw him today. He says this is normal and usually takes anything from 2 to 8 weeks for everything to settle down. Is this truly the case? If I had known this was going to happen I would never have had it done. Please reply. Thank you for your time.

A. It sounds like one or more of the teeth have an inflammed nerve. You may end up needing root canal treatment. If this is the case then the pain may not subside. The need for root canal treatment can sometimes result from having this type of treatment. It depends on many things. If you can find a specialist endodontist ( root treatment specialist) in your area then I would go and have the vitality of your teeth tested. It is not normal for you to feel this kind of pain. I have delivered hundreds and hundreds of veneers and this type of pain is nto common and if it happens is dealt with in a proactive manner.
Kind regards
