I need a bridge, do I have to have my root remove?

Q.
I had a crown on my front tooth break off yesterday. Unfortunately, it broke the part of the tooth that was inside the crown so there is nothing to anchor the crown to. Dentist told me i have to have a bridge, which is OK, but I don’t understand why the root of the boken tooth has to be taken out. Why, as part of the bridge process, can’t the replacement tooth be glued to the root (like my temporary tooth currently is).
A.
If the root is suitable you may be able to have a root canal treatment and then a post and crown placed to replace that tooth, but the root needs to be suitable. Your other option rather than a bridge , if indeed the tooth has to be removed, would be to have a dental implant, rather than a bridge, to replace the missing tooth. There’s certainly more than just the single option you’ve been given in most cases. A second opinion would be a good idea for you before doing anything
