I have sensitive teeth after a cerec crown

Q. I have one Cerec crown and due to have more. However I am nervous as when preparing this particular tooth some of the dentine of the tooth has been left exposed. It is sensitive to cold (wasn’t a problem before) but has settled down a little. My dentist coated the area but I am not happy about it. Having had this treatment done on this tooth I feel it should have been better than this. Please could you advise what to do and whether to trust this would not happen to the other planned teeth.

A. Many thanks for your enquiry. when a tooth is prepared, it should always be sealed with a bonding agent, this ensures that the dentine is sealed and should be less sensitive. after the crown is fitted patients can still suffer from sensitivity for a week or so but this is usually due to the tooth settling down after the procedure. the best thing would be to discuss this with the dentist before the remaining planned treatment. hopefully he will put your mind and rest and the remaining treatment will be done with no more hiccups. the good news is that if the sensitivity is decreasing it should completely resolve in time. hope all this is helpful.

no i think you are wrong this is because the cerec crown doesnt have as much insulation over the tooth causing you to be more sensitive as I am currently suffering now for over 4 weeks with two cerec crowns, i have extreme cold sensitivity and suffere headaches and jaw discomfort, I think they need to recall these crowns or improve this crown

Hi, I wonder if you can help me. In July 2008 I got 2 crowns fitted and later on that month I developmed tension headaches which I still have every day. My doctor has tested everything and can not find the reason for them. Iam wondering is it possible that the crowns could be causing them. thanks

Hello! Despite young age (24) I already have got 6 crowns on my front teeth. Going back to the beginning… I have had problems with my teeth for years; they were very week and were braking peace by peace. My dentist has toldme that they were E2809CdeadE2809D due to harsh antibiotic I have taken in my teens. So after consultation she came up with solution. I had twoof them replaced with implants and had porcelain crowns fitted over the top. I have been promised that it will be long term solution and visually I will also benefit. Unfortunately final result wasnE28099t as great as promised, colour is horrible and makes me feel very self conscious and 3,5 years on they are already cracked and missing a bit of one of them… Due to the cost I had it done abroad (in Poland) so it is difficult to travel everytime something goes wrong, and I also lost the confidence in the dentist that looked after me… She did tell me that actual implants wonE28099t have to be replaced, only crowns. I a m now looking into my options… do Igo back and have it redone? 3,5 years isnE28099t really good enough is it? But cost of having it done over here, in UK scares me a bit, but I did see that you offer interest free finance? I would like to find out more about the cost and most importantly if you feel that you could do better job- crowns that will last longer and give me better smile (maybe whiten the other teeth for better results?). I wouldnE28099t want to waste your time because I am only researching my options at the moment, but any information would be appreciated. Thank you

Hello, I am interested in having a Crown fitted on my front upper central incisor which was split in half due to a car accident. I am also interestedin having my canines shaped slightly, and possibly teeth whitened. I wouldlike to know how much this would cost roughly, I would appreciate if you could get back to me. Thanks very much.

8 years ago when i was 13 i broke one of my front teeth. This then resultedin an infection which meant i required root treatment. I now have no rootbut a crown fitted and this crown is now going a dark colour and my dentisthas informed me this is the only option and can do nothing about the colour. Are you able to advise if there is any other options for me as i feel all you see is my dark crown right at the front of my mouth? Regards,

I broke my upper left lateral when I was young. For the past 5 years it hasgot darker. Previous dentists used white filling materal to build up another tooth, but it has started to look dark. Can you tell me a approximate cost to have a crown on this tooth. Thank you
