I have Osteoporosis which I take Boniva for, will this prevent me getting braces?

Q.
I am 72 years old & am currently taking Boniva 150mg. monthly for osteoporosis. My dentist referred me to an orthodontist who would like to put braces on my upper teeth. He is not sure whether the Boniva would work against him. Can you advise?
A.
I think that you shoulkd check with your doctor or physician about the implcations of your medication with respect to orthodontic treatment

Here is some useful information about Osteoporosis and Orthodontics

Best to get the advice of both your osteoporosis specialist and the orthodontic specialist

Hope that helps
