I have acid errsion on my incisors

Q. I have a problem with my top 4 incisors-acid erosion-they are eroding round the edges and 2 on the front also-my dentist uses composite on the fronts-is there a more permanent solution-im willing to pay

A. If you are noticing a change in your teeth it may not necessarily be due to acid erosion. There are many reasons why your teeth may begin to wear down. Without knowing the history I cannot tell you for ceratin but certainly don’t dismiss the fact there may be other reasons for the wear. It could be due to the position of the teeth and your chewing patterns. A sign of this is when you have wear on the front teeth and no wear on the back teeth. Acid erosion is either diet related or due to bulimia or reflux. It affects all of your teeth, not just the front ones and effects the back of the front teeth rather than just the edges so who ever told you it was acid erosion may be wrong. Veneers can be placed on your teeth as a more permanent solution, however if the reason for the wear is the position of the teeth and your chewing patterns then your veneers will not last and will eventually either break or come off. If the white fillings that you are having placed on the edges of your teeth don’t last, it is probably because of this reason.
Your dentist needs to have a sound knowledge of occlusion ( science of the bite, the joint and chewing patterns). If he doesn’t it is better to go to someone that does.
You are welcome to come for a free consultation if you live in or near buckinghamshire. Failing that there is a list of cosmetic dentists on the cosmetic dentistry guide but make sure you ask them whether they have training in occlusion.
I hope this helps
Kind Regards
