I have a big fear of the dentist but I am suffering from tooth ache, what can I do?

Q. Hi there I am really worried One of molars decayed needed filling after the birth of my daughter it has been filled which lasted a year. I had horrendous toothache went to the dentist where they temporary filled it . To see if the nerves in my tooth would settle. If not they suggested a root canal or extraction. My tooth has been fine for 7 months now the filling has fallen out, although i have a huge whole my tooth is fine. I am however very worried a s my gum has been throbbing which is near to the tooth this happens only now and then. Its not constant. I am petrified that its an abcess. I have a phobia of the dentist I have even been subscribed valium in the past thats why for the past three weeks I have be putting off going to see them. Also I would be quite happy to pay the dentist to fill my tooth every year as I am pertrified of having a root canal also Thanks in advance,
A. You really need to visit your dentist, whilst there is no temporary filling in it is open to bugs and bacteria. If the tooth had settled down for 7 months maybe try a semi permanent filling in this tooth to see if it completely settles.Regarding your phobia ask your dentist to discuss the options of intavenous sedation with you don’t let a root filling put you of it is no different to having a filling done.
