I has a fall and cracked my front teeth will veneers be suitable

Q. Hello, I hope you can advise me on this. I am very upset and disappointed because i had fixed braces removed last year with good results. Unfortunately following a nasty fall my front two teeth are now cracked and one of them has a chip in it. I am really sad as i didnt want to go down the veneers route, however i must fix this as its really getting me down! I am going to just have to accept the fact that i need to pay to sort it out. What i’d like to know is, is it possible to have veneers placed on just the front two, or front four upper teeth? or would this look odd compared to the rest? my teeth are very straight so it is my hope that they would not need to be shaved down very much. Basically i want to replicate my natural teeth. Do u think that veneers can look natural? many thanks for your time and advice.

A. Very sorry to hear of your accident. You must feel terribly upset after all your hard work wearing a fixed brace for so long.

In this situation I would advise the treatment of as few teeth as possible – preferably only the damaged ones. It certainly is very difficult to get veneers to perfectly match natural teeth. It can take several attempts to achieve an acceptable result. In my surgery I use a technique called Cerec which allows me to custom match the colour and shape in the surgery literally while you wait. It is a one visit procedure using very high tech computer equipment to make the veneers and we can achieve excellent results. Please visit my web site and have a look at what might be possible for you.
