I had a filling done two weeks ago and now I am in pain when drinking cold water and eating hot food; why is this?

Hi,

I had a filling done about 2 weeks ago, was only a small one so had it done without the injection. Now when i drink cold water or eat hot food it really hurts.

What could this mean or be?

The teeth can take a few weeks to settle down after having fillings, I would go back to your dentist if it is getting no better it sounds like the nerve could be dying off in the tooth and may require root canal treatment.
