NHS medical cards are usually given out when you are first registered as a patient with a GP, if you have lost your medical card you can request that your GP sends you a new medical card. If in the mean time you need a medical card for dental treatment your GP should be able to write a letter to confirm that you a are a valid holder of an NHS medical card or provide you with your medical card number which should be sufficient.

. I have a medical card for prescriptions as of the medication i’m on. Does this card cover me for dental work. I am a diabetic with a lot of other complications that’s why i have the card. I am so confused about the writes of the card and i’m due to go to the dentist very shortly. Do i just show them the card or doesn’t it cover me for this. Please help me. Thank you for your help.
