I am worried that teeth extraction and braces may not be the best option for my teeth, what advice can you give?

Q.
Hello again. Thanks for replying to my concerns of lower incisor extraction! Yes in answer to your question of ortho treatment. I currently have a fixed appliance on the lower anterior teeth (3 remaining incisors 2 canines and 2 premolars) Very discouraging to hear I night have to wear 2 lots of retainers and there is stil a chance of relapse. I was’nt told any of this by the ortho and if I had been would NEVER have gone ahead with the extraction and left my teeth alone. Surely it is the duty of the ortho to put the risks of treatment to the patient beforehand so an informed decision can be made by the patient. I,m so low at this time. Is there another option if I abandon thse fixed appliances and get the gap sorted out some other way and have bone graft to fill the socket. I’m terrified of losing my lower teeth! Had the braces on for 5and a half weeks!
Thankyou
A.
You could consider an implant replacement but without seeing you in person I couldn’t tell if that would be suitable for you? It might depend on how much space is actually there.

Don’t be disheartened…if you have the correct retainers in place the amount of relapse may be very tiny or there may be none noticable at all.

If you’re really concerned then go for a second opinion – happy to help or you could discuss your situation with a good cosmetic dentist near you

All the best

Mark

Is it possible to get a misaligned, yet healthy tooth extracted if it meant having a straighter smile?

I cam to meet the dentist about 2 months ago to discus Invisalign. Howeversince then my hygenisit said my gums were not healthy enought for such treatemnt. I would therefore like to discuss this with the Orthdonist and see if there are other more suitable forms of braces.

I wore an upper removable brace for 2 years to push both my lateral incisors forward. My left incisor has now slipped back. I have all my wisdom teetheither fully emerged or partially erupted and my bottom front teeth are now misaligned (where they used to be perfectly straight). I’d quite like todo something about this and found details about the inman aligner via google. Are there payment plans available for treatment and to what extent of misalignment would the inman be effective? Thanks

I have a misaligned jaw. When I was about 12 and had two teeth removed anda brace fitted, they asked if I wanted a few more teeth out so I could havean operation at the age of 18 to straighten my jaw. At that age the prospect scared me and I stupidly said no. I now hate the fact my front teeth don’t line up properly with the dip in the top lip. They are about a whole tooth across to the left. Does it have to be surgical or can invisaglin help? Thanks

I wonder if you can help. I had a removable brace to straighten minor crowding of my four lower front teeth in June last year and have been experiencing problems. I was given a retainer to wear but did not wearit as my teeth felt uncomfortable at the end of treatment .My top teeth fitover the bottom teeth but when I speak the lower teeth grind together withthe top ones . The brace didn’t rotate the teeth it squeezed them to an almost flattened appearance and slightly retroclined them .Two of the teeththat are rotated are pressing uncomfortably on the back of my top teeth. Ihoped this might settle but it hasn’t . (I also had quite a bit of enamelreduction and on the opinion of another dentist he said to much enamel wasremoved and unevenly on both sides) I am desperate to find out if anythingcan be done about this . I need to find someone who cares about the front teeth and will look into it . my top teeth are pretty straight but they aretrying to sl ightly slanted inwards towards the bottomC2 teethC2 and feeltight against them .my bite is class 1 so teeth appear ok.I am so distressed about this and am losing hope of a solution . Is there anything that canbe done about this? I have been told top and bottom teeth should have beenmoved at the same time Regards

i didn’t know who to ask, but my braces are causing me a lot of pain, i have had them for six months now but i got hit in the face by a ball and a bit of metal from the brace has moved out of place. Behind the colour of my brace there is a tiny bit of metal sticking out. It is only small but it constantly rubbing against my lip and cutting it which means it’s painful to eat. any way to get rid of it would be helpful. Thankyou.
