I Am Using Lots Of Wax To Stop My Braces Hurting. Do You Have Any Advice That Can Help Me With This?

Q.
Hi Mark. I had lingual braces on 2 weeks ago and I am using lots of wax but my teeth feel like they have razor blades stuck in between them that are ripping my tongue to shreds and I am lisping badly. I am a 51 year old female and am totally regretting my decision. It cost an enormous amount of money and now I do not want to go out in public as I constantly lisp and I am always aware of it. I regret not doing more research, I had no idea it would be so painful. Any advice?

Have you tried Gishy-Goo? This is often better than wax and easy to use – ask your orthodontist’s receptionist or assistant. Unfortunately one of the draw backs of lingual braces is discomfort but it usually subsides after a while once you and your tongue and cheeks get used to the wires and brackets. Be patient it does get better and I’m sure it will be worth it to have lovely straight teeth. Best to go back and have a chat with your orthodontist for reassurance, be honest they will understand. Regards, Mark.
